Welcome to the Refined Lighting blog! We are very excited to introduce our brand new blog and hope that our customers, old and new alike, will find it a useful tool when choosing their lighting for whatever their function and desired effect.

Of course we also have bathroom lighting to complement every bathroom style, providing you with the peace of mind that not only does it look fantastic, but you are complying with current regulations.
Once upon a time lighting used to be an afterthought and strictly a necessity; nowadays we are seeking more glamorous modern lighting or ornate traditional lighting as a major part of the interior design of our homes and often even the focal point of our rooms.
Also coming to our blog will be clear explanations of all those dry industry technical terms in easy to understand layman’s term… IP rating, watts versus lumens, including the latest buzz word… LEDs. They may seem a little daunting at first but, with a little help from directlight, we’ll show you that it need not be as intimidating as you first thought. This will help you feel more confident both in your purchases online and more positive when you visit showrooms.

However, it’s not all just about our lighting ranges – each month we will introduce you to the individuals behind the scenes who dedicate their time to ensuring that customers of directlight, online and in our showrooms, are delighted with their product and strive to ensure our customers receive a second-to-none after-sales customer experience.
We never forget that we are also customers of other online retailers and understand how important it is to give a human face to the name on that email or to the voice we speak to on the other end of the telephone.

We also encourage our delighted customers to share photographs of their purchases to post on our social media, showing the lighting in-situ in their homes. It is wonderful to view a photographer’s fantastically shot product image on the website but you can’t beat an actual customer’s photograph to help you visualise how each light may look against your own decor in your own residence, garden or workplace.

Just recently we introduced a brand new courier service (Predict) with Interlink – in conjunction with the email you already receive on the day of dispatch. Long gone are the days that you have to hang around all day waiting for your parcel to arrive.
We understand that not everyone has continuous access to their email, but most of us do carry our mobile phones with us as an everyday part of life. Simply by providing us with your mobile number we can arrange for a text message to be sent to you on the day of delivery, offering you a predicted 1-hour-window delivery time.
This means you’ll be free to do the things you enjoy – shopping, going to the gym, collecting your children from school or, for many of us, simply being able to use annual leave days as they are intended! If the proposed delivery day and time is not convenient you can simply use the text to change the delivery day.
